VINGT Paris Sale Privée with Meilleur Ami

Text and image by Philippa Brangam

Last week’s Sale Privée event, held in the Marais, became a mini depôt-vente in itself. Organised by Meilleur Ami designer Fabien Larchez, VINGT paris readers arrived in advance of the public for an exclusive preview to hunt through the curated racks of designer clothes and accessories and trouver leur bonheur - see photos.

However, perhaps the biggest hit of the night were Fabien’s own printed scarves. Not skimping on fabric, the soft stylish beauties double up to from a cosy and stylish neck cocoon.  The night was fun filled with many many finding their love at first sight purchase and starting the weekend in style.

Everywhere you look in Paris stylish French women can be seen mixing together their Isabel Marant, Chanel and perhaps even Monoprix with the greatest of ease. Only a French woman can be on trend without seeming like she has tried at all.

Where do they get their seemingly endless supplies of designer bags, vintage YSL and fabulous heels? The answer for some at least is at the depôt-vente; an Aladdin’s cave of treasures and fashionistas’ Nirvana. Vintage shopping is almost an Olympic sport. The best depôt-ventes, scattered around each arrondissement in the city, are closely guarded secrets in the French women’s little black book - watch for our article coming next week.
