Renovation of the Magasins Généraux & La Villette

Check out the la Villette canal basin -  it is difficult to miss the two buildings that define its extremities.
The Magasins Géneraux were built between 1845 and 1853 and stored grain and flour until a fire broke out.

In 2024 the Paris City Council set about their reconversion. The project should be finished in early 2024. The building on quai de Loire already houses a student residence with 165 rooms, 37 artists’ workshops, a restaurant and an exhibition space.

Artist's atelier for rental

From January 11th through February 11th 2024, Paris based artist Barbara Navarro will be making her usual pilgrimage to the Yanomami tribes people - their homelands lie between the borders of Venezuela and Brazil in the Amazonian rainforest. Amaranth Ehrenhalt

Here is abstract expressionist Amaranth Ehrenhalt in her amazing atelier in Bagneux (just outside Paris) which she has decided to sell. Her energy and enthusiasm puts most young artists to shame. She has purchased a place in New York City and will soon move back after many years in Bagneux. The Mairie commisssioned her to do several murals and during the time those were being fired in a giant kiln she took the opportunity to do one for the front of her own home and Atelier d'Artiste, which she also built.

Amaranth is participating at the Portes Ouvertes in Bagneux during the weekend of 26th and 27th May.
