I V Y Paris Presents Artist Ariane Dionyssopoulos' Poupée Parisiens

March 18th, TOMORROW NIGHT!

Hiver 2009 343 I V Y paris invites you to discover Parisian artist, Ariane Dionyssopoulos.

Having worked in theatre as an actrice, Ariane was inspired to take part in her own mise en scène, recreating people and scenarios from everyday life.

Each poupée is handmade of FIMO clay in a technique that Ariane has developed entirely on her own. Not your average porcelain figurines, the dolls have true personality and wear distinct facial features that vaguely remind you of someone you know or seen before. What makes them even more striking is their sharp sense of style, mixing bold colors with various prints.

Photo: A couple of young ladies stand by a café wearing animal print waistcoasts paired with grey slacks, vintage brooch and ankle boots.

A Chance for a Chaircut

Cosmoson and Paris Experimental Sound presents Nelson Loskamp and his Chaircut at La Bellevilloise, May 11th at 6pm. RSVP

Electric_chaircut23_by_jason_graham Nelson’s Electric Chaircut is an interactive, electro-sonic, hair cut performance. After a brief consultation and the signing of a release form, Volunteers are taped to the chair. Their eyes and mouth are also taped to symbolize the fetishism of appearance.

The Volunteer’s hair is then cut by Nelson, the original master of electro-sonic hair design.

His various implements are amplified, scissors and clippers wired to effects pedals, slung round his waist, and blasted through an amplifier strapped to his back. The whacking haircutting sounds reverberates in a trance like cacophony of seemingly random patterns, as the true stylistic nature of the volunteer is released.

Originally conceived in San Francisco, Nelson’s Electric Chaircut has been performed world wide since 1989.

If you'd like to volunteer for a chaircut please email us!

I V Y Paris at the Louvre - photographs

If you missed out on yesterday's great show, here are some photos.

The second I V Y paris at the Louvre expo such a great success! I loved how it all came together and the artists have many reasons to be proud of themselves for their talent, good humour and patience in making sure the show got on the road and the public were provided with a great exhibition which was a credit to us all. It was great to meet new and exciting talents who I hope will continue to enjoy their collaboration with IVY paris.
