Hipster destruction party - NYC

As always, many people and venues ("I just lost my rent-controlled apartment, my studio, restuarant/bar" ad infinitum) were being moved on to make way for Lofts and Condos. The great club Tonic shut it's doors - and the experimental music venue Issue Project One in Brooklyn seems to have a limited shelf life. Seems like all the artists are in the Bronx these days (I can see why as Brooklyn is expensive and restaurant infested now - it's three year's since I was in Williamsburg). I have always been always interested in the "artists re-generate-property developers move in" real estate equation and was interested to read on Gawker about Saturday nights wild hipster "destruction party" at 196 Grand Street in Manhattan, a tenement supposedly scheduled for demolition this week.

We might need to be put on drips on the flight home

I don't think they'll be time to sleep - so far we have meetings and visits to the following:
Thursday evening
Performa - NOT FOR SALE Forever Radical - (might as well start as we mean to go on...)
Havana Film Festival opening
If we end up in the 'hood I'd like to check out the music at The Stone, a new artists' space in the East Village.

Havana Film Festival New York

We are lucky enough to be in town during the Havana Film Festival. Celebrating Latin American cinema with new full-length features, documentaries, short films, classics and animation from Cuba, the Caribbean, Mexico, Central and South America it will be a treat and we'll see as much as we can. Renowned for premiering award-winning films as well as the work of emerging filmmakers the festival is in its eighth year and draws on under represented countries such as Bolivia, Columbia, and El Salvador, as well as more established nations like Argentina and Mexico. A voir: The Most Beautiful of My Very Best Years (Bolivia).

Why the hell is there no Spanish version of their website though?

New York City - NOT FOR SALE: Forever Radical?

NOT FOR SALE: Forever Radical
I'll be hot footing it to the airport to check this out on Thursday in New York city. Luckily we are going to be staying just round the corner from here, NYU Einstein Auditorium (34 Stuyvesant St, 212.533.5720).

From Flavourpill: "Happenings once epitomized the extreme, disruptive potential of art. Now, with cultural institutions rushing to embrace the avant-garde like the latest fashion trend, can anyone still claim to be radical?

New York venue

I'm searching for a venue for the I V Y Paris event in New York City later this month. If only Peggy Guggenheim was still there, we could ask to borrow Art of This Century.
