DIVA is open today from 2pm to 10pm, and on Sunday from 12pm to 8pm. There is a program of events at Theatre de la Reine Blanche . Scheduling here.

On Sunday, Romain Torri presents Damien Odoul at the Theatre de la Reine Blanche, and Antonio Arrevalo presents a video program by selected artists.  Video link to inteview with founder Thierry Alet here thanks to Vernissage TV.

12 international galleries who have dedicated special attention to the work of their artists that use video and digital media to express themselves were present, including: NT Art Gallery (Bologna), Arka gallery (Vladivostok), Vacio 9 (Madrid), galerie Mamia Bretesche (Paris), Barbara Blickensdorff (Berlin), Isabelle Gounod (Paris), Walsh Gallery (Chicago), 13 Sevigne (Paris), Elga Wimmer (New York) and strangely, Heart galerie (Paris), where I have never noticed a single video artist .

The gallerie's "space" was the bedrooms of the Kube Hotel on the second floor which was quite bizzarre. I was disappointed that only one gallery seemed to have used the fittings of the hotel to any effect, Zone Gallery NYC.

I immediately felt the different energy in their room. For a start I didn't have to edge my way in past snobby stares and push past the people swigging champagne to see what was on show.  And they were genuinely happy to talk about the artsts they were showing and invited us to a conference on the relationship between Nam June Paik and John Cage to be held today, Saturday.

It's true the hotel's interior was a fabulous setting for video and new media art especially the long black hallways opening up to luminous white rooms.  We amlmost stumbled into the famous ice bar (
made entirely of ice and surrounded by walls measing 1 meter by 1 meter and weighing 20 tons, designed by artist Laurent Saksik).

We walked thru what we saw was the exit and it turned out to be where the barperson accessed the area but he wouldn't let us in.  The staff and drinkers have to wear antartic style fluorescent clothing.  It didn't look so cool (heehee)  on the inside, just people taking photos of eachother, you have to reserve, it's not like a real bar, but from our vantage point looking in through the ice walls from our suspended clear plastic bubble chairs it was very beautiful.
